Dear Friend,
This is your last chance to take advantage of the Gun Owners of America Congressional Candidate Voter Guide.
435 seats in the U.S. House of Representative–and 34 of the one hundred U.S. Senate seats–are on the ballot this year.
GOA rated the candidates based on voting records, answers to a candidate questionnaire, and publicly held positions. Candidates receive a “?” if they have no record and refused to return a survey.

A Perfect Storm
More than most election cycles, this year developed into a perfect storm in which all three branches of government are up for grabs.
Of course, the Judicial Branch isn’t literally on the ballot. But as goes the White House and the United States Senate, so goes the Supreme Court.
Hilary Clinton, who thus far has managed to avoid a criminal indictment, has made clear that she disagrees with the pro-Second Amendment decisions of the late Justice Antonin Scalia. Her nominee to replace Scalia will have to pass her anti-gun litmus test.
For all practical purposes, the view that the Second Amendment protects a collective, states’ rights, as opposed an individual one, will become the prevailing legal theory should Clinton pick the next Justice.
In addition to Justice Scalia’s replacement, there is the potential for other vacancies on the horizon. Two Justices will be in their eighties by the time of the election, and one will turn eighty in the middle of the next presidential term.
So the next president could potentially make as many as three or four nominations to the Court.
For his part, Donald Trump has put forward a list of twenty potential nominees who believe that the Second Amendment protects an individual right.
U.S. Senate Could Go Either Way
Any nominee to the Court must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
Republicans currently control the Senate, but it is anyone’s guess which Party will be in the majority after Tuesday’s results.
Democrats need five seats to take control of that chamber, and just four if Hillary wins as the Vice-President casts the tiebreaking vote.
If that happens, New York’s Chuck Schumer will be the Senate Majority Leader and will serve as Hillary’s willing accomplice in destroying gun rights.
Considering what’s at stake, there’s no excuse for any gun owner not to vote.
Still, we’ve heard from a lot of gun owners this year who are fed up with the whole system and plan to just sit this election out. Don’t stay home!
In addition to the White House and the Congress, there are twelve governorships and scores of down ticket races and initiatives on the ballot this year. If we don’t vote, Michael Bloomberg, Hillary Clinton and the entire anti-gun dream team will win.
Sincerely,
John Velleco
Director of Operations
