MD: Gun Industry Accountability Act Lands on Governor’s Desk

HB 947 is the Gun Industry Accountability Act of 2024, a bill which falsely alleges that firearm industry members are creating a public nuisance through the sale and manufacture of firearms. It authorizes the Attorney General, county attorney, or a Baltimore City Solicitor to bring action against firearm industry members due to someone else, entirely outside their organization, committing a crime with a firearm they’ve manufactured or sold.

Instead of the legislature taking accountability for their own policy failures, they’ve concluded that firearm manufacturers are directly responsible for the actions of other people.

Unfortunately, HB 947 already sits on the Governor’s desk. Reach out to the Governor in the form above to ask for a VETO on this bill.
