GOA Supports Senator Daines in Fight Against Biden Lead Ammunition Ban

Contact Your Senators And Ask Them To Support Senator Daines’ Bill (S.4940) To Stop The Biden Lead Ban

In August, GOA formally opposed a new federal ban on lead ammunition proposed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This ban is intended for certain federal lands and comes from President Biden and his anti-gun, anti-hunting supporters.

The ban was theoretically designed to protect terrestrial wildlife, but the science behind the proposal is unproven and uncertain at best.

Research shows that further bans on lead ammunition are not proven to make any improvement in lead exposure among wildlife and will only drive up the price of ammunition, thereby cutting off hunting opportunities for many Americans.

To stop this latest effort by the Biden Administration to attack gun owners and hunters, Senator Steve Daines (R) of Montana has submitted a Senate bill (S.4940) to prohibit the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Bureau of Land Management from banning the use of lead ammunition or fishing tackle on public lands “unless such action is supported by the best available science and state wildlife and fish agencies.”

Senator Daines and 22 Republican co-sponsors are doing exactly what GOA called for when we formally opposed the Biden lead ban in August (click here for details).

There is widespread concern in the hunting and fishing community that the Biden lead ban will not only jeopardize wildlife by reducing revenue for state conservation efforts, but this unnecessary regulation will also drive up prices to the point that many Americans will be unable to spend time hunting and fishing.

GOA is one of many groups supporting Senator Daines’ Senate bill to stop this unproven and unnecessary lead ammunition ban.
