TN: Concerning Gun Bills Inbound…
Republicans Submit Concerning Gun Control Bills
Tennessee legislators have introduced bills for January’s upcoming session, and some Republicans have introduced bills that should concern gun owners.
And while Gov. Bill “Lousy Lee” has said he won’t pursue red flag gun confiscation this session, that has not stopped the RINO assault on your rights. Gun owners should not believe Lee has backed off his anti-gun efforts behind the scenes.
GOP Representative Ryan Williams has introduced HB 1599 and HB 1600. These bills expand the category of individuals prohibited from possessing firearms under Tennessee law to those individuals found guilty of certain offenses as a juvenile.
In other words, these bills will prohibit 18-25 year old adults from purchasing firearms if they have certain juvenile offenses, including misdemeanors and mental health issues.
At a time when a young adult’s right of self-defense is under attack, these bills echo Leftists calls to “raise the age” to buy a firearm. One may wonder why an alleged “conservative” or “pro-gun” representative is aiding in that cause.
Further, young adults aged 18-21 already suffer extra delays and scrutiny due to the misnamed and unconstitutional Bipartisan Safer Communities Act recently passed by Congress.
Young adults should not be punished well into adulthood, particularly for receiving mental health treatment or committing a misdemeanor. HB 1599 and HB 1600 must be opposed.
So please call your state representative and let him or her know that you’re opposed to these bills. (You can find the legislative office number here.)
Thanks for taking action!
