TX: GOA Watching for Gun Control

GOA is monitoring the Texas Legislature and their actions regarding the Robb Elementary Shooting. The investigation is ongoing, and the subject matter is sensitive and contentious.

Unfortunately, many organizations are using this tragedy to push their political agenda, including infringements on responsible gun owners’ Second Amendment rights. GOA will not compromise on its commitment to protecting law-abiding Texans’ right to keep and bear arms. As we monitor this rapidly developing situation, GOA urges members to contact their state legislators, using the form above, and respectfully request to:

  • Make Texas and Texans’ hard targets. Restore the right of responsible Texans to defend themselves, especially in locations where they are most vulnerable.
  • Learn from history. Texas removed the prohibition on carrying a firearm in houses of religious worship in 2019. Since then, we have seen a dramatic increase in protection in our churches, synagogues, and mosques.
  • Finish the investigation. Urge lawmakers to finish their investigation of the Uvalde tragedy before making knee-jerk reactions, including gun control that would not affect criminals and only harm law-abiding gun owners.
  • Demand accountability. Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw said the police response in Uvalde was an “abject failure;” gun laws are not the problem. Burdening responsible gun owners with additional gun control laws is not the answer.

The GOA Team has boots on the ground in Texas to actively monitor the situation and will be making it known to your elected officials that compromising on the Second Amendment won’t fly with the citizens of Texas.
