Billionaire Bloomberg Still Trying to Buy Vermont

Gun Control Coming to a Vote this Week in Montpelier!

Vermont is one of the safest states in the country.  So you would think that the state wouldn’t need any crime-related advice from a big city mayor like Michael Bloomberg.

And, yet, Bloomberg is back, flush with his rolls of money, trying to turn Vermont into a liberty-hating hellhole like the city he used to govern.

Oh, and one more thing:  Bloomberg is trying to get his way through tricks and subterfuge.

The ostensible vehicle for the Bloomberg agenda is Vermont Senate Bill 141 — a bill which is plenty bad in-and-of-itself.

Bloomberg purports to want to take guns away from a person convicted of a “violent crime.”  So what is a “violent crime”?

Well, according to this bill, there would be a lot of things that you might not consider to be “violent” that could end up disarming you for life under this bill.  For example:

* Spanking your kid — or grabbing him for misbehavior — could run afoul of 13 V.S.A. 2405 or 2406.

* Screaming at your husband?  Defending your family with a gun? Even smoking a joint, under the drafters’ amorphous and clownish use of the term “comparable offense” could be treated as a “violent crime.”

These are the ridiculous ways that similar language has been interpreted in other states. And you can be sure that Bloomberg will spend a good chunk of his billions to enforce this crazy interpretation in Vermont so that he can pervert these statutes to take away your guns.

Senate Bill 141 goes on to require that persons with mental health problems be turned over, with no discretion, to the FBI NICS blacklist — in order to eradicate their constitutional rights. This is roughly the same system under which 200,000 law-abiding veterans have been stripped of the constitutional rights because of traumatic experiences during wartime.

You may be sure that Vermont police and fire fighters will soon be losing their guns as well, if this crazy provision becomes law.

Do you need any more proof as to what frauds Bloomberg and his minions are?  Well, in proposed 13 V.S.A. 4017(c), the bill assures us that you can get your gun rights back under federal law at 18 U.S.C. 925(c).

One problem:  Under pressure from the very trolls who are pushing S. 141, this provision in federal law — at 18 U.S.C. 925(c) — HASN’T BEEN OPERATIVE FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS!

Whoops!

Bill could become a vehicle for Universal Gun Registration

One final thing:  There is some evidence that S. 141 isn’t an end in itself.  Rather, when it gets over to the House, it may well become a vehicle for the Universal Gun Registration which is Bloomberg’s real goal in the state of Vermont.

What that means is that virtually all private sales would be outlawed … these transactions would have to go through a gun dealer … and thus, the feds would be able to record every gun that is purchased throughout the state.

We need to tell legislators that Vermont doesn’t need this legislation.  The murder rate is one of the lowest in the nation.

Tell them that “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”  And, even more, don’t throw it on the floor and shatter it into pieces.

Bloomberg has an army of armed guards to protect him and his family.  The last thing we need is for him to come into the state with a wad of bills — and take away people’s right to defend their families.
