SC: VICTORY: Alan Wilson Elected Governor of South Carolina!

Huge Victory for South Carolina Gun Owners: Alan Wilson Wins Governor’s Race!

The election results are in, and gun owners across the Palmetto State delivered a resounding message at the ballot box: Alan Wilson has been elected the next Governor of South Carolina!

Gun Owners of America was proud to endorse Alan Wilson, and today we celebrate a major victory for our God-given, constitutionally protected rights.

As Attorney General, Alan Wilson proved time and again that he is not a squish when it comes to the Second Amendment. He stood on the front lines defending our freedoms against unconstitutional federal overreach, joined GOA in federal court battles against rogue bureaucrats, and never wavered in his commitment to law-abiding gun owners.

Now, taking the helm as South Carolina’s chief executive, Governor-elect Alan Wilson will ensure that our right to keep and bear arms remains safe from the radical anti-gun lobby.

The Election Breakdown: Holding a Solid Pro-Gun Majority

While we celebrate this tremendous executive victory, this election also brought shifts in the General Assembly.

Republicans lost their supermajority in the State House, moving the chamber to a 79–45 balance.

Make no mistake: while anti-gun forces and the legacy media will try to spin these numbers, we still hold a solid, pro-gun majority in the South Carolina House of Representatives.

Gun owners showed up, held the line, and ensured that anti-gun Democrats and weak-kneed politicians do not have the numbers to push gun control in the Palmetto State.

The Fight Ahead: GOA’s Legislative Priorities

Having a pro-gun governor in the executive mansion and a pro-Second Amendment majority in the legislature means there is zero excuse for inaction. Gun Owners of America is not in the business of playing defense. We are here to advance freedom.

GOA is already preparing to work closely with Governor-elect Wilson and the General Assembly to pass critical, no-compromise pro-gun legislation, including:

  • Protecting the Firearms Industry in South Carolina: Shielding our firearm manufacturers, dealers, sellers, and trade associations from predatory anti-gun lawsuits. South Carolina is proud home to some of the finest firearm businesses in the country, and we must ensure this lawfare never threatens their survival.
  • Fixing State Law on Short-Barreled Firearms: Cleaning up outdated and convoluted state statutes regarding short-barreled rifles (SBRs) and short-barreled shotguns (SBSs). Law-abiding citizens should never face state-level criminal pitfalls or bureaucratic traps for simply owning standard configuration firearms protected by the Constitution.

The anti-gun lobby thought they could make inroads in South Carolina, but grassroots gun owners proved them wrong on Election Day.

Now, the real work begins. We must hold every lawmaker’s feet to the fire and keep the pressure on Columbia to expand our liberties.

Thank you for your active support, your votes, and your tireless dedication to defending freedom. Let’s get to work!
