AG Lynch’s testimony ‘disgraceful’

Mike Hammond, legislative counsel for Gun Owners of America, describes Lynch’s testimony as “a pretty disgraceful performance in virtually every way that it’s possible for testimony to be disgraceful.”

He continues: “It criminalized collectors and hobbyists of firearms. She said [she was] just putting out guidance basically consisting of what the courts said. That’s a lie in a whole bunch of ways.”

AG Lynch’s testimony ‘disgraceful’

A pro-Second Amendment advocacy organization wasn’t impressed with the recent testimony of Attorney General Loretta Lynch before a Senate panel, in essence calling it a pack of lies.

In testimony on Wednesday before the Senate Appropriations Commerce, Justice and Science Subcommittee, the AG defended her boss’s recent executive actions that some say is his first salvo in restricting Americans’ constitutional right to own and bear arms. She told lawmakers that the president took lawful, commonsense steps to stem firearms violence that kills and injures tens of thousands of Americans yearly.

But Mike Hammond, legislative counsel for Gun Owners of America, describes Lynch’s testimony as “a pretty disgraceful performance in virtually every way that it’s possible for testimony to be disgraceful.”

He continues: “It criminalized collectors and hobbyists of firearms. She said [she was] just putting out guidance basically consisting of what the courts said. That’s a lie in a whole bunch of ways.”

In contrast, Hammond was pleased that Republican members on the panel, including subcommittee chairman Richard Shelby of Alabama (see video below), said the gun-control measures Obama announced two weeks ago were the latest example of overreach of executive branch powers.

In the meantime, Gun Owners of America isn’t sitting idle. “We have already drafted a package of amendments overturning all of Obama’s unlawful executive actions” – amendments Hammond says will give the president a choice:

“If he wants his legacy bill in which he lets drug traffickers out on the streets, he’s going to have to accept an amendment to repeal all of his executive actions.”
