Gun Owners of America & Fuerza 2A Proudly Endorses James Uthmeier for Florida Attorney General

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Gun Owners of America & Fuerza 2A are proud to endorse James Uthmeier for Florida Attorney General, citing his proven record of defending the Second Amendment and standing with law-abiding gun owners.

As Florida’s Attorney General, Uthmeier has used his office to protect Floridians’ right to carry, to defend themselves and their families, and to exercise their constitutional freedoms. Following the First District Court of Appeal’s decision striking down Florida’s open-carry ban in McDaniels v. State, Uthmeier issued guidance making clear that law-abiding citizens should not be arrested or prosecuted for openly carrying a firearm consistent with the ruling. His office also stated it would no longer defend prosecutions under Florida’s unconstitutional open-carry ban in GOA v. Del Toro.

“James Uthmeier has proven that he is willing to fight for the Second Amendment when it matters most,” said Alisabet Valdes, National Chair of Fuerza 2A. “Floridians deserve an Attorney General who will not merely campaign as pro-gun, but who will actively use the office to defend the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners. Attorney General Uthmeier has done exactly that. For that reason, Fuerza 2A is proud to endorse James Uthmeier for Attorney General of Florida.”

Uthmeier has also defended gun rights beyond open carry, arguing that the government cannot broadly strip Second Amendment rights from individuals who are not dangerous and challenging attempts by private associations to impose sweeping firearm bans that conflict with Florida law and the constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
