GOA Issues Statements in Anticipation of Biden’s Anti-Second Amendment SOTU

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 7, 2023

Washington, D.C. – Spokesmen for Gun Owners of America (GOA) and the Gun Owners Foundation (GOF) issued the following statements in advance of President Biden’s second State of the Union Address this evening from the House Chamber on Capitol Hill. GOA spokesmen are available for interviews to react.

“This administration has made it quite clear they have no interest in protecting the right to keep and bear arms. Instead, it appears as though their primary goal is to weaponize the ATF to harass gun owners, dealers, and anyone else who supports the Second Amendment,” said Aidan Johnston, Director of Federal Affairs. “GOA is working closely with 2A champions in the House and Senate to check this rogue administration and make it clear that the public will not be intimidated.”

Erich Pratt, GOA’s Senior Vice President, said: “I expect we’ll hear about the need to ban ‘assault weapons’ tonight, but what our leadership should be demanding from Congress is empowering everyday citizens to protect themselves and ensuring that soft targets, like gun free zones, are eliminated. In a dangerous situation, you are your own best defense.”

Sam Paredes, on behalf of the board for Gun Owners Foundation, added:

“Since the Bruen decision, gun control laws are feeling the heat across the country, and GOF and Second Amendment advocates are making clear that these tyrannical abuses will be brought down in the courts if necessary. As we’ve been saying since the decision—fall in line, or we will make you.”

Gun Owners of America is a nonprofit grassroots lobbying organization dedicated to protecting the right to keep and bear arms without compromise. GOA represents over two million members and activists. For more information, visit GOA’s Press Center.
