Alleged Bank Robber Points Gun At Elderly Customer, Gets Shot

On September 21, an alleged bank robber in Warren, Michigan, pointed his gun at an elderly customer, who pulled his own gun and shot the suspect in both arms and one leg. The alleged robber then “staggered” out of the bank and collapsed.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the “robbery unfolded in the late afternoon at the Citizens Bank near 9 Mile and Van Dyke.” A 43-year-old suspect allegedly entered the bank, took a “large amount” of cash from a teller at gunpoint, then “threatened a 63-year-old customer with his gun.” The customer was a concealed carry permit holder who was armed and was able to draw his own gun and shoot the alleged robber three times.

The suspect then exited the bank, only to crumble onto the sidewalk, dropping the money he had stolen. Police quickly arrived and handcuffed him as onlookers observed him “yelling and moaning.” He was then taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
