Gunnies Take it on the Chin

In a defeat for fiscal and Second Amendment conservatives, the House and Senate this week approved a short-term “continuing resolution” (CR) to extend the operation of the government for three weeks — until April 8.

The CR would continue to fund anti-gun ObamaCare, ATF’s illegal multiple sales regulations, ATF’s unlawful Project Gunrunner — and a litany of other unconstitutional provisions.

Majority Leader Harry Reid rammed the anti-gun CR through the Senate on Thursday.  In both chambers, the leadership tried to excuse its actions on behalf of the CR by arguing that it would cut $6 billion from the roughly $1.5 trillion deficit — two-thirds of one percent of the current deficit.

But all of these cuts were painless cuts preapproved by the Obama administration.  For example, $1.7 billion came from money left over from the census.

All the while, the CR continues to fund the implementation of ObamaCare and the ATF’s illegal activities — including its unlawful multiple sales gun registry and its disgraceful effort to put firearms into the hands of Mexican drug lords through its appropriately named Project Gunrunner.

Plus, several videos exposing ATF — including Executive Director Larry Pratt’s appearance on Fox News — can be viewed on GOA’s homepage at:  www.gunowners.org

GOA is now asking members of the Senate and House to reject any further short-term CR’s unless they defund the anti-gun ObamaCare program and ATF.

Activists are encouraged to thank their Representatives and Senators who voted AGAINST this week’s CR.  Deserving special thanks are the 54 Republicans who voted to oppose the CR for the right reasons:
