Second Amendment Preservation Act Introduced in Arizona State Senate
Arizona State Senator Kelli Ward (R-Lake Havasu City) recently introduced legislation to put an end to the abuse of the Second Amendment in the state of Arizona. That bill is Senate Bill 1294.
The provisions of S.B. 1294 are simple and easy to understand: Arizona officials would be barred from enforcing federal gun control law, and would be fired if they do.
Whatever the intent of the 1968 Gun Control Act, it has become a monstrosity. It has been used to strip more than 150,000 veterans of their constitutional rights without due process.
The ATF is now using annual inspections to Xerox 4473’s and compile a national gun registry.
And the Obama administration is now setting the stage for using medical information to strip tens of millions of Americans of their constitutional rights — again, with no due process. This includes individuals with ADHD and PTSD — plus those with common anxiety disorders or Alzheimer’s. And while no one has been able to identify any “danger of gun violence” posed by people with Alzheimer’s, many of them do have very large and valuable gun collections which they would like to pass on to their children.
Unfortunately, like prisoners who have come to identify with their captors — called the “Stockholm Syndrome” — a few gun owners have become addicted to federal infringements.
So for those who might cringe at telling the federal government to take their gun control laws and “shove it,” here are a few observations:
1) Under the Supreme Court’s Printz decision, Arizona has no obligation to be a regulatory lap dog for Barrack Obama.
2) Even without Federal Law, Arizona has more than enough laws regulating firearms ownership.
3) Finally, some think this bill is “too pro-gun” and will prevent state authorities from signing off on NFA firearm applications. But federal statutory law does not require local authorities to approve the possession of NFA weapons (see 26 USC, Sec. 5812). The local sign-off requirement is an unconstitutional regulation that was promulgated by the ATF. Sadly, because of these regs, many Americans are not allowed to own machine guns because their local police chief won’t sign off on them. So if anything, SB 1294 begins the process where the states are now pushing back against these unconstitutional federal regs.
To those who have become addicted to having their constitutional rights taken away, we would say this: “You will get used to freedom, and you will really like it.”

Dear Senator:
Arizona State Senator Kelli Ward recently introduced legislation to put an end to the abuse of the Second Amendment in the state of Arizona.
A few observations:
1) Under the Supreme Court’s Printz decision, Arizona has no obligation to be a regulatory lap dog for Barrack Obama.
2) Even without Federal Law, Arizona has more than enough laws regulating firearms ownership.
The bottom line: Senate Bill 1294 would restore constitutional government to the state of Arizona. Already, Kansas and Alaska have enacted Second Amendment Preservation Acts. I would like Arizona to follow suit.
Please cosponsor or support Senate Bill 1294.
Sincerely,
