Connecticut, in a surge of enthusiasm for gun control, enacted a law requiring citizens possessing AR 15 semi-automatic rifles to register them. Fifty thousand did by the time the deadline expired at the end of February. But an estimated 100,000 did not.

The refusal to register is an act of passive resistance to this law. Now Connecticut has a problem. What do you do with 100,000 armed citizens who refuse to comply? The chief of the state police announced that he is prepared to confiscate the guns. He is awaiting orders.

The governor of Connecticut had better consider carefully what he does. And he is in a jam. To allow such massive disobedience to stand renders the law effectively null and void. That will not please the zealots on the political left.
