The Kentucky GOP wants federal prosecutors to investigate claims by Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Ed Marksberry that he was offered favors from high-profile party contender Alison Lundergan Grimes to drop out of the race, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

In a letter, state GOP Chairman Steve Robertson asks U.S. Attorney David Hale to look into an alleged “payoff scheme,” the newspaper reports.
