ME: Stop Red Flag Gun Confiscation Laws on November 4th!
On November 4th, Maine voters have the opportunity to stop Red Flag Gun Confiscation orders from becoming law. Citizens are being asked to answer two referendum questions on the ballot. Question 2 relates to Red Flag Gun Confiscation orders, it reads:
“Do you want to allow courts to temporarily prohibit a person from having dangerous weapons if law enforcement, family, or household members show that the person poses a significant danger of causing physical injury to themselves or others?”
If passed, it would enact “The Extreme Risk Protection Order Act.”
As a reminder, these orders are often issued ex parte, meaning that firearms can be confiscated before the accused has an opportunity to appear in court and present a defense for themselves. This is a blatant due process violation that creates significant potential for abuse and false reporting, putting law-abiding gun owners at risk of unjustly losing their rights and suffering lasting, irreparable harm.
The answer is plain and simple, vote “NO” for Question 2 on November 4th.
