Tomorrow, Maine’s Judiciary Committee will hold a work session on several different gun related bills. While the Judiciary Committee is continuing to collect testimony and information on these bills, there’s a strong chance that a few of them will be voted on.
For this reason, we must reach out to the Judiciary Committee and push for the rejection of the following bills immediately:
- LD 677 (SP 292) – Expands the definition of a machine gun and makes it a crime to own a “rapid-fire device” which the bill defines as a device, part, or combination of parts that increases the rate of fire of a semi-automatic firearm beyond its standard rate of fire. This ban specifically references binary-triggers, trigger cranks, forced reset triggers, and bump-stocks.
- LD 1120 (HP 739) – A “safe storage” bill that criminalizes not keeping your firearms locked up at ALL times. Gun grabbers have no right to tell you what you can or cannot do with your legally owned firearms on your own property.
- LD 1299 (SP 529) – A second “safe storage” bill that pertains to keeping firearms in vehicles.
The 3 pro-gun bills being heard at the Committee meeting tomorrow can be seen here:
- LD 1230 (HP 805) – Abolishes the 72-hour waiting period for a firearm purchase.
- LD 208 (HP 128) – Same as above.
- LD 1062 (HP 691) – Eliminates the requirement for a background check to be conducted during the private sale of firearms.
Send a message to your State Legislators immediately using the form above and tell them to vote PRO-GUN in tomorrow’s meeting!
