As a Florida state lawmaker, he took on important fights to restore your rights: Campus carry: Steube sponsored HB 4001 in 2016 to allow concealed carry license holders to carry in college and university facilities, helping fight for that legislation in the Florida House. Open carry: As a state senator, he introduced SB 140 in 2017 to allow Floridians to openly carry handguns and fought the Republican establishment who wanted to keep Janet Reno’s gun control on the books. Opposing Parkland gun control: In 2018, he fought the gun restrictions in SB 7026, including the under-21 purchase ban and bump stock ban. He continued that work in Congress: National concealed carry reciprocity: Steube cosponsored H.R. 38, the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2025, to protect lawful concealed carry across state lines. Repealing NFA restrictions: He joined as an original cosponsor of H.R. 3228, the Constitutional Hearing Protection Act, to remove suppressors from the National Firearms Act and eliminate the associated federal tax and registration requirements. These are concrete legislative actions to restore constitutional freedoms. From fighting carry bans in Florida to backing national reciprocity and removing NFA restrictions in Congress, Steube has demonstrated his willingness to advance the Second Amendment.
