House Gun Banners Shooting To Strip Pro-gun Amendment From Bill

In our last alert, we told you how Rep. John Hostettler (R-IN) managed to get a pro-gun amendment inserted into the Department of Defense appropriations bill. The language, taken from his bill (H.R. 4257), would stop the administration from rewarding any gun maker that cuts a gun control deal with the government.

Well, the Rules Committee will be deciding today whether an amendment to strike the Hostettler provision from the bill can be offered on the floor of the House. Anti-gun Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) is the one who is pushing to strip the Hostettler amendment from the DoD bill (H.R. 4205).

Whether the Rules Committee will allow the anti-gun McCarthy amendment is still not clear. But it is only a matter of time before the House will have to vote on this issue. So please make your call today.

Senate Democrats To Insult Pro-gun Women By Praising Gun Control Moms

The Senate started off rather slowly yesterday, but by the mid-afternoon, fireworks were erupting on the floor. Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) made good on his threat to use guerilla warfare tactics in an attempt to get gun control passed. Daschle succeeded in shutting down the Senate for five hours.

When business resumed, the Senate began debate on a “sense of the Senate” Daschle amendment to praise the anti-gun marchers from this past weekend; and to demand a vote by Memorial Day weekend on the juvenile crime bill — a bill that would impose draconian gun restrictions.

The Daschle amendment is an insult to the millions of women who revere the Bill of Rights! Why just commend the so-called Million Mom Marchers? Why not praise the Second Amendment Sisters for giving up their Mother’s Day to protest for the right to keep their families safe?

And as for the term “million” — not only did the gun grabbers not reach one million marchers, they did not even come close to getting the 500,000–750,000 people that the anti-gun media has been reporting. A lot could be said on this point. But perhaps the best evidence can be easily summed up in just a couple of pictures. On the internet, go to http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a391f959078aa.htm or to http://www.etherzone.com/mmm052300.html to see just how bogus the claim of 1/2 to 3/4 of a million people is.

The Senate will vote on the Daschle amendment today. Please urge your Senators to not insult the thousands of pro-gun men, women and children who stood up for the Second Amendment and counter-marched on Sunday. Urge your Senators to vote “NO” on the Daschle amendment.
