Pelosi passes gun control before her Speakership ends
The lame duck Congress just abused the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to chip away at our Second Amendment rights before the new House majority takes hold.
Hidden inside of the Fiscal Year 2023 NDAA is a gun control amendment that establishes a “pilot program on safe storage of personally owned firearms.”
While the pilot program is technically “voluntary” for military members, we all know perfectly well that this is a slippery slope toward a mandatory safe storage program for everyone.
Joe Biden himself has said that his end goal is to “have safe storage laws, requiring personal liability for not locking up your gun.”
Unfortunately, 176 Republicans voted for this bill and put our nation one step closer to enacting mandatory safe storage programs for your firearms.
That’s why GOA is asking for your help to PUNISH every Representative who voted for this gun control measure and to PRAISE the 35 Republicans who had the courage to defy immense pressure and vote against this military spending bill in order to protect your constitutional rights.
Please add your name to our pre-written letter to PRAISE or PUNISH your Representative depending on how they voted. (NOTE: Our system will determine how your Representative voted upon entering your address.)
If the safe storage amendment is only meant to be a “voluntary” suggestion, then why was it even necessary to make it part of a law?
We all know the answer. It’s not really intended to be voluntary, but rather, it’s intended to provide a pathway for mandating that Americans lock up every gun they own- even the ones they rely on for self-defense.
Look, gun safes can be valuable tools for gun owners.
But it should be YOUR decision – and your decision alone – whether you want to lock your gun in a safe storage.
The government has no business telling you where you should keep your firearm in your own private property.
In fact, GOA’s own Stephen Willeford, who used an AR-15 to stop the Sutherland Springs mass murderer, REGRETS keeping the firearm he used locked and unloaded.
In his own words: “I lost 90 precious seconds retrieving my firearm from a safe.”
If the government gets its way, and makes this “voluntary” safe storage amendment mandatory, we all may find ourselves wishing we could get 90 seconds back the next time a life-or-death situation strikes.
That’s why it’s critical that we let Congress know how much opposition there is to this gun control measure that sets our nation up for a mandatory safe storage program for firearms.
So please, add your name to our pre-written letter to PRAISE or PUNISH your Representative depending on how they voted. (NOTE: Our system will determine how your Representative voted upon entering your address.)
