Pro-Gunner Rand Paul, endorsed by Gun Owners of America, scored a huge win for gun owners on Tuesday.

Just before appearing at one of the final debates with his opponent, Dr. Paul stopped by a Louisville gun show to visit with supporters and hold a press conference thanking GOA for their endorsement.

“I am proud to receive the endorsement of Gun Owners of America,” Dr. Paul said.  “Too often, politicians give only lip service to the Second Amendment and then go to Washington and vote against gun rights.  I will stand with GOA in uncompromising support of the right to keep and bear arms.”

Rand Paul’s commitment to the right to keep and bear arms is unwavering.  He understands that the framers of the Constitution viewed private ownership of firearms not merely as a hunting or sporting issue, but chiefly as a safeguard of liberty.

Dr. Paul is committed not only to defending the Second Amendment against further legislative attacks, but also in rolling back unconstitutional gun laws that are on the books.

In contrast, Dr. Paul’s opponent said he supports the unconstitutional gun laws that exist today.  He also supports prohibiting private firearms sales at gun shows, which is tantamount to closing such events down.

Dr. Paul understands that the government is growing at an out-of-control rate, and that many politicians would like to regulate the Second Amendment out of existence.  Thomas Jefferson noted in 1798 that “The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground.”

If we don’t put a halt—quickly—to the continued growth of the federal government at the expense of our liberty, at some point it will be too late to turn things around.

Jefferson also said that “In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.”

It is time to break out the chains and start binding down the politicians.  And that is what people like Dr. Paul intend to do, and that makes Gun Owners of America proud and honored to stand with Rand Paul for Senate in Kentucky.  Rand Paul will prove to be one of gun owners' best new friends.
