(Springfield, VA) — Gun Owners of America today drew attention to the shooting at the John McDonogh High School in New Orleans.

“This tragedy might have been prevented by the presence of armed teachers and other employees at the school,” said Larry Pratt, Gun Owners of America Executive Director.

“Last year, a Research 2000 poll found that 85% of Americans would find it appropriate for a principal or teacher to use ‘a gun at school to defend the lives of students’ to stop a school massacre.

“Today’s shooting offers the latest evidence that gun free zones are a misnomer. They are a criminal safe zone,” said Pratt.
