GOA to New Hampshire House: Please vote “No” on S.B. 244

Next week, the New Hampshire House will hopefully bring the long saga of S.B. 244 to an unlamented end. This, after the House committee unanimously voted to kill the bill.

(Under New Hampshire procedures, the bill now has to be killed by the full House as well.)

In the end, the state Senate has stripped the bill of its nasty gun ban and anti-gun study. And we are grateful for this.

But the drafters of this bill didn’t really have legislative drafting skills. In addition to comical drafting errors, the bill’s process for restoring rights is unnecessarily difficult and expensive.

Strategically, the bill is like a fumbled football. There is too much danger, as House anti-gunners could seize it and turn it into an anti-gun vehicle.

Finally, we believe that after November, the General Court will be more pro-gun. And we will have an opportunity to consider restoration of rights and other pro-gun issues in a better environment.

ACTION: Please contact your Representative and ask him or her to vote to kill S.B. 244.

Dear Representative:

I was glad to see that the House committee unanimously voted to kill S.B. 244.  And I stand with Gun Owners of America in opposition to this bill.

In the end, the state Senate has stripped the bill of its nasty gun ban and anti-gun study. I am grateful for this.

There is no doubt that after November, the General Court will be more pro-gun. And we will have an opportunity to consider restoration of rights and other pro-gun issues in a better environment.

So again, please vote no on S.B. 244.

Sincerely,
