The fate of gun control could be determined in the next few days

The Senate may vote as early as Wednesday morning on whether to end the Paul-Lee-Cruz filibuster of the motion to proceed to the Reid gun control bill.

If we get 41 votes, we will stop gun control in its tracks – at least for the time being – and stop Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid from using bribes and kickbacks to buy off Senators and get their support (just like he did on ObamaCare).

Thankfully, there are almost a dozen Senators who have committed to joining Senators Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee in filibustering Reid’s gun control bill. They are Richard Burr (NC), Dan Coats (IN), Mike Crapo (ID), Mike Enzi (WY), James Inhofe (OK), Ron Johnson (WI), Mitch McConnell (KY), Jerry Moran (KS), James Risch (ID), Pat Roberts (KS) and Marco Rubio (R-FL).

But this is still not enough – we need more Senators to join the filibuster movement. Because if we don’t get 41 votes Wednesday morning, we will be faced with weeks of efforts where we must stop gun grabbers from bashing us and trying to destroy everything we believe in.

The imperative, then, is to get 41 votes (out of 100) against cloture Wednesday morning.

HERE ARE THE SPECIFICS. Harry Reid has now moved to proceed to S. 649, which would:

  • Install a universal gun registry, and
  • Send you to prison for 15 years for negligently selling, gifting, or raffling a firearm.

And this is just the beginning. If Reid successfully moves to proceed to the bill, he will try to bribe, threaten, and cajole the votes necessary to pass:

  • The Feinstein gun ban (which covers shotguns, rifles and handguns that millions of Americans legally own),
  • The magazine ban,
  • The Lautenberg language to allow Obama to ban guns for every GOA and NRA member by simply putting its membership list on a “watch list,” and
  • A Schumer-Toomey compromise where a gun-hating Schumer will try to convince hapless Republicans to betray their own party, to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, and to destroy the Second Amendment movement for the sake of allowing Obama to “put points on the board.”

But the good news is this: If we get 41 votes against cloture Wednesday morning, we will stop the Harry Reid gun control bribe-o-thon in its tracks.

KEY TARGETS: Constituents who live in Arizona, Georgia and South Carolina need to press John McCain (AZ), Johnny Isakson (GA) and Lindsey Graham (SC), as they have already announced they will oppose the Paul-Cruz-Lee filibuster.

And it is unknown where the following Republicans stand on the filibuster, so they especially need to hear from their constituents:

  • Susan Collins (ME)
  • Tom Coburn (OK)
  • Dean Heller (NV)
  • Pat Toomey (PA)

On the Democrat side, the following could possibly be swayed by enough grassroots pressure:

  • Max Baucus (MT)
  • Mark Begich (AK)
  • Joe Donnelly (IN)
  • Kay Hagan (NC)
  • Heidi Heitkamp (ND)
  • Mary Landrieu (LA)
  • Joe Manchin (WV)
  • Mark Pryor (AR)
  • Jon Tester (MT)
  • Mark Warner (VA)

SUMMARY: Every Senator should be contacted. But those who hold special significance are all Republican Senators (especially those listed above) and the Democrats listed above.

ACTION: This is it! Contact your Senators. Have your spouse, family, neighbors, church, friends, and your dog contact your senator.  Forward this email to all your pro-gun lists.

Tell your Senators to vote against cloture on the motion to proceed to the gun control bribe-o-thon. The time is short, so while it’s okay to send webmails to your Senators, it is preferable that you call them and tie up their lines.

You can call the U.S. Senate Switchboard at: 202-224-3121.
