GOA Calls on Gun Rights Supporters to Oppose Senate Gun Deal

URGENT: Gun Control Reaches 60 Votes in Senate

This is our do-or-die moment.

It was announced over the weekend that a gun control “compromise” has reached 60 votes in the Senate, giving it a filibuster-proof majority.

While the bill is still being drafted, here are some of the provisions the framework calls for:

  • Federal dollars to bribe state legislators into enacting Red Flag Gun Confiscation Laws
  • Delayed and expanded background checks for citizens under 21 years old
  • FFL definition changes which could be a backdoor way to universal background registration checks
  • Establish new federal offenses related to so-called “gun trafficking” that could inadvertently be applied to you, making you a felon

Here are the 10 Republicans who have agreed to tear apart the Second Amendment:

John Cornyn (TX)
Thom Tillis (NC)
Roy Blunt (MO)
Richard Burr (NC)
Bill Cassidy (LA)
Susan Collins (ME)
Lindsey Graham (SC)
Rob Portman (OH)
Mitt Romney (UT)
Pat Toomey (PA)

So long as we can pressure JUST 1 SENATOR on that list to walk away from this assault on our Second Amendment rights, the bill can be filibustered and ripped to pieces. GOA is targeting various Democrat Senators, as well, given that some of them also consider gun owners as their base.

That’s why GOA urgently needs YOU to take action. Your action could be what sways the 1 SENATOR to stop this gun control nightmare from landing on Biden’s desk.

Please add your name to our pre-written letter to alert your two Senators to VOTE NO on the proposed gun control framework in the Senate.

While there is no legislative language yet on any of these provisions, we have a good idea what they will entail based on similar proposals in the past.

For example, expanding the definition of FFLs (Federal Firearms Licenses) could require that anyone who sells more than one gun now has to sell any additional guns as, or through, an FFL, resulting in a backdoor mechanism for universal background registration checks.

The goal may be to turn all private citizens who sell their guns into FFLs, restricting your ability to conduct private gun transfers without being recorded in the ATF’s illegal national federal registry.

Let’s not forget that the ATF has admitted that it already has nearly 1 BILLION records on gun owners.

GOA also has grave concerns regarding new federal offenses around the vague term “gun trafficking.”

In the past, we’ve seen punishments for anyone who sells or “transfers” a gun to a “prohibited” person.

What does “transfer” mean? In the past, we’ve seen “transfer” defined as handing your firearm to a neighbor or family member even for one second.

Well, let’s say you heard a noise in the middle of the night, so you hand your gun to a family member – who, unbeknownst to you, is considered a “prohibited” person because they have a medical marijuana card – you’ve now been identified by the federal government as a “gun trafficker.”

These provisions won’t stop bad guys from getting guns, but they will become a mechanism for the government to go after honest, non-violent gun owners like Jeremy Kettler, a disabled veteran defended by Gun Owners Foundation after he was turned into a felon by the Obama Administration for merely possessing an unregistered suppressor in accordance with state law.

Senators need to know that gun owners will not let them get away with calling this a “compromise.” This is gun control, plain and simple.

ALERT YOUR SENATOR

I put the word “compromise” in quotes, because pro-gun Republicans are getting NOTHING in return to advance Second Amendment rights.

Pro-gun Senators could at least demand a reduction in barriers for willing teachers to use concealed firearms to defend students – 1 provision that’s supported by 81% of police.

Unlike Red Flag Gun Confiscation Laws – which already FAILED to stop the Buffalo shooting – this would actually make a difference in enhancing the safety of our children.

Please don’t get me wrong. There is absolutely NO compromise acceptable to GOA. These are our rights, and we shouldn’t surrender an inch of them to anyone.

But why is it that these pro-gun sell-outs are ALWAYS the ones making the concessions? How come they never demand anything in return from the anti-gun wing of the Senate? Why doesn’t Chuck Schumer or Elizabeth Warren “reach across the aisle” to help gun owners?

Gun owners are FED UP with being sold out and exploited for our votes. We need to make our anger heard loud and clear.

It only takes 1 REPUBLICAN SENATOR to walk away from this gun control bill to kill it. That’s why your action today is so critical to saving the Second Amendment.

So please, add your name to our pre-written letter to alert your two Senators to VOTE NO on the proposed gun control framework in the Senate.
