One dead, another injured in armed robbery of Triad game store

An employee of a Winston-Salem game store fatally shot an armed robber early Wednesday morning, according to Winston-Salem police.

Investigators said the incident happened at 5:06 a.m. Wednesday at Coliseum Bids and Bingo, 2804 University Parkway, which is in the College Plaza Shopping Center, when two armed robbers entered the store.

Police said 22-year-old Deshaun Rashad Fisher McCullum, of Winston-Salem, and the second robber entered the business armed with handguns and threatened the manager and patrons.

The 63-year-old store manager was armed with a handgun and there was an exchange of gunfire between him and the two robbers.

One of the robbers shot the store manager in the shoulder. The store manager shot McCullum.

Both the assailants fled south of the business on foot toward University Parkway.

McCullum collapsed and was found dead about 300 yards from the business.

The second robber has not been found. Police are actively searching for him.
