Your Activism is Needed to Make North Carolina the Next Constitutional Carry State

Dear Friend,

Please act immediately.  Your gun rights are at stake!

With copious input from Gun Owners of America, North Carolina state Representative Chris Millis (R) has introduced one of the best Constitutional Carry bills ever to be introduced in any state.

On behalf of 1.5 million law-abiding gun owners, I enthusiastically endorse the Millis bill -- House Bill 201 -- and asks for your help in getting more cosponsors.

HB 201 recognizes that North Carolinians should not be required to get the government’s permission in order to exercise their God-given rights to protect their families, their communities, our country, and our freedom.

Four of the five safest states in the country are Constitutional Carry states.

Furthermore, in two of the earlier Constitutional Carry states -- Alaska and Arizona -- murder rates went down roughly 30% in the five years following their enactment of Constitutional Carry legislation.

But the Millis bill goes further.  It repeals the “pistol permit.” There are many who believe North Carolina would not achieve real Constitutional Carry status unless this was repealed.

In addition, House Bill 201 tweaks many of the outdated, antiquated aspects of gun law:

  • For instance, it tracks a 1986 amendment to federal law which allows Second Amendment rights to be exercised by non-dangerous, non-violent people whose crimes have been “white collar crimes.”
  • And it insures that North Carolina recognizes other states' "restoration of rights" procedures.

We are very enthusiastic about the possibility that North Carolina could join the 13 Constitutional Carry states -- states that combine respect for constitutional liberties with safe streets.

But we need your help.

Please urge your state representative to cosponsor HB 201.

In Liberty,

Erich Pratt
Executive Director
