The vote is coming soon, and it's going to be close.
The vote in question is on John Bolton, whom President Bush nominated to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. The Senate has twice put off a vote on his nomination, but Capitol Hill insiders expect the final vote will come as early as next week.
The anti-gunners in the Senate have tried everything they can to derail his nomination. Bolton is EXTREMELY pro-gun and has a record of opposing UN tyrants who wish to impose gun control on our country.
In 2001, Bolton defended American gun owners by stating our country would oppose any UN effort to regulate non-military firearms or any effort that would "abrogate the constitutional right to bear arms." Because of his stand, Bolton is credited with destroying any hope other nations had of achieving a consensus on gun control.
Bolton also spearheaded U.S. opposition to the International Criminal Court -- a world court that would have been packed with extreme, far-left, activist judges.
While President Clinton initially signed the treaty to establish this anti-gun world court, the Bush administration reversed his decision. John Bolton was the man who had the pleasure of signing the paperwork, declaring that the day he signed the letter withdrawing the U.S. signature on the treaty was "the happiest moment of my government service."
You would be hard pressed to find an experienced candidate who is more pro-gun than Bolton or who is more outspoken against UN abuses!
ACTION: Please contact your senators immediately. Urge them to vote to confirm John Bolton. This vote could occur as soon as Tuesday, so please ACT NOW!
You can visit the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center at http://www.gunowners.org/activism.htm to send your senators a pre-written e-mail message.
Dear Senator:
The United Nations is no friend of the United States or the Second Amendment. The General Assembly is controlled by thugs and dictators who would impose gun control on a worldwide basis, including the United States.
This is why we need a man like John Bolton to represent us at the United Nations. We need a strong-willed patriot who will oppose this world body whenever it tries to impose its anti-American agenda upon us.
Bolton has a long and distinguished service in the State Department. He has a proven record of supporting America first and for defending the constitutional rights of every citizen.
Please support the nomination of John Bolton and oppose any effort to delay such a vote. Thank you.
Sincerely,
